| Shlomo
Cohen was born in Israel the son of Bulgarian immigrants who were
looking to start a new life in a new country. Shlomo's father, Joseph,
owned a photography studio where Shlomo spent much of his childhood
helping out in the "family business." At a young age his
talent as an artist became apparent. Shlomo began his apprenticeship at
the ripe age of 13, a recent Bar Mitzvah, when he photographed his first
wedding. He spent his high school days studying graphic design at a
local art institution where he learned the skills of a manual artist.
Yet, photography was his passion.
After his service as a paratrooper in the Israeli army, Shlomo chose to immigrate to the United States where he embarked on a career path similar to that of his father. After working with local photographers for several years, Shlomo established his own studio, SHLOMO COHEN PHOTOGRAPHY. Twenty years later, Shlomo is now one of the leading photographers in the State of Maryland. His background in the visual arts has distinguished him from all others. His clients receive not simply a visual record of memorable events in their lives, but more like a work of art celebrating the uniqueness of life itself. A passionate craftsman with the commitment to his clients like that of a loving relative, Shlomo Cohen dissolves the boundary between subject and object. His devotion to his craft is unwavering. Previously, Shlomo has both attended and been a guest lecturer with the MPPA (Maryland Professional Photographers Association) working to improve his photographic expertise. Currently, he devotes all of his time and energy to creating elegant and innovative works of photography for his clients. His studio has entered the high-tech world of the new millennium by means of digital image processing, a technique which surpasses the photographic retouching of the past. Now more than ever, Shlomo Cohen Photography is synonymous with excellence in photographic artistry.
